Welcome to Sunny Hills Dance, where students of all dance backgrounds can discover and develop their passion for dance, choreography and performance. We offer a diverse, comprehensive and competitive dance program that will prepare students for higher education and careers in dance and the Arts. We hope to see you at a future event!

Dance Production

Dance Production is the elite dance team on campus. The focus is on student choreography development and performance on stage for the Fall and Spring Dance Concert.  In addition, students will gain collegiate level dance knowledge relating to the principles of choreography, performance, staging, lighting, costuming and makeup design. Guest instructors and master classes will be utilized to provide additional exposure to the world of dance outside of high school. Lastly, this team attends dance conventions and workshops and competes at regional and national competitions.  

Pre-requisite: audition or teacher recommendation

Dance 1 - Beginning

Beginning dance is a dance appreciation course that introduces and explores various styles of dance including jazz, ballet, lyrical, musical theater, hip-hop, and cultural. Students will be introduced to dance history, terminology, nutrition, fitness, choreography and dance as an art form.  Lastly, students will perform in the Spring Dance Concert in April!

No experience or pre-requisite required.

Dance 2 - Intermediate

Dance 2 is designed for students to strengthen their technical dance ability in preparation for Dance 3 and/or Dance Production. Students will continue to focus on technique, while exploring new forms and aspects of dance and choreography. Lastly, students will perform in the Spring Dance Concert in April.

Pre-requisite: Dance 1 or teacher recommendation

Dance 3 - Advanced

Dance 3 will focus on strengthening technique with an emphasis on learning how to choreograph. This course will focus on developing a lifetime interest in dance, dance history, choreography and artistic awareness. Students will participate in choreography projects, discussions, performances, viewing of live dance and dance on film. Guest instructors and master classes will be utilized to provide additional exposure to the world of dance outside of high school. Lastly, students will perform in both the Fall and Spring Dance Concert.

Pre-requisite: Dance 2, audition, or teacher recommendation.
